Collaboration is central to ARACY’s approach to improving the wellbeing of youth in Australia. It involves individuals and organisations working together to achieve outcomes that cannot be effectively accomplished alone. By combining effort, expertise, and resources, collaborative relationships create what is known as collaborative advantage—benefits greater than those possible through individual action.

Key drivers for collaboration include reducing duplication, accessing limited resources, increasing efficiency and effectiveness, building organisational legitimacy, and addressing complex social problems. Collaboration exists on a continuum alongside cooperation and coordination, with relationships varying by intensity, communication, power sharing, risk, and reward.

ARACY’s six Networks support cross-sector collaborations by facilitating knowledge exchange, building long-term partnerships, and driving coordinated action on issues affecting children and youth. Through these Networks, organisations can engage in meaningful collaboration to produce sustainable, system-wide impact.
