Young & Wise Regional, Rural & Remote Roundtable
Regional, Rural, Remote Roundtable
Participant Information Sheet
ARACY’s purpose is to champion all Australian children and young people to thrive.
We bring together evidence, lived experience and practical ideas to help create policies and solutions that support healthier, safer and more connected young people.
Young & Wise is our youth voice and co-design initiative. We listen to young people about what is working, what is not, and what needs to change, and we take those messages directly to government and sector leaders.
ABOUT THE REGIONAL, RURAL & REMOTE ROUNDTABLE
You are invited to participate in an online workshop with ARACY staff and a group of around 15 young people from regional, rural and remote communities.
The session will run for approximately 90 minutes via Microsoft Teams.
Date and time will be confirmed once participant availability is finalised (time zones will be clearly noted).
This roundtable will focus on what helps young people in regional, rural and remote communities thrive and what makes it challenging. We will explore experiences across wellbeing, including belonging, education, health, participation and access to services.
Discussion will include a range topic areas (like social media, nutrition, digital health supports, body image, cost of living etc.) that impact young people’s wellbeing.
We will not publish names or identifying information without explicit consent.
HOW YOUR VOICE WILL BE SHARED
The session will be recorded (audio, video) and transcribed to support accurate note-taking, reporting and advocacy.
The full recording will be shared with the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing for internal review only and will not be publicly released. Parts of the recording or transcript may be used to draft verbatim quotes for reports, policy submissions and advocacy materials.
ARACY will prepare a summary of key themes, insights and recommended actions from the discussion – view our series one summary here. Findings may be included in:
- Reports
- Policy submissions
- Advocacy work
- Website content and presentations
- Social media and sector communications
All contributions will be de-identified in public materials unless you choose otherwise in the Consent Form.
IDENTIFICATION OPTIONS
In the Consent Form, you will be asked whether:
- You are comfortable for ARACY to use your first name and/or image (including screenshots or short clips) in educational or promotional materials; or
- You prefer that your contributionsremainfully de-identified and that your image is not used publicly.
You may also choose to use a nickname or first initial during the session.
Your full name and email address are collected for registration, communication and payment purposes only and will not be published.
EXPECTATIONS
You must agree to how your information will be used by signing the Consent Form before participating.
Participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time by contacting ARACY. Please note that it may not be possible to remove material that has already been formally submitted or published.
ARACY may engage external co-facilitators to support culturally safe and child-safe delivery, and participants will be informed beforehand.
ARACY also has a safeguarding obligation to act if serious risk of harm is disclosed.
We expect each participant to actively contribute to discussions, collaborate with fellow participants, and treat each other with respect. You can expect respect and a high level of professionalism from ARACY.
We respect that each participant will have varied lived experiences, and we commit to ensuring that all perspectives are respected.
ACCESS REQUIREMENTS
The session will take place online via Microsoft Teams and use an interactive tool called Mentimeter.
You will need internet access and a device with audio (camera optional).
If connectivity or access is a concern, please let us know in advance so we can explore options.
HONORARIUM PAYMENT
Participants will receive a $50 honorarium for attending the roundtable.
- You’ll need to join for the full session to receive your payment.
- After the session, we’ll send you a short honorarium payment form. Completing it as soon as possible helps us process your $50 quickly.
- Payment will be made via electronic transfer to an Australian bank account.
- If you do not have your own Australian bank account, payment will need to be made to a parent or guardian’s bank account.
SHARE YOUR FEEDBACK (Optional) + $20
Ever think of the perfect thing to say after a conversation ends? Same.
That’s why we’ll send you a Folktale link after the roundtable so you can:
- Add anything you didn’t get to share
- Clarify or expand on something you said
- Share feedback about the session
- Let us know how we can improve
You’ll receive an additional $20 if you submit your feedback via Folktale.
We’ll also pop a QR code on screen at the end of the session so you can jump straight in.
Folktale is a safe online platform where you can share feedback via video, audio and/or artwork, whatever feels most comfortable for you.
