Australian Research Alliance for Children & Youth

ARACY Research Network

The ARACY ARC/NHMRC Research Network: Future Generation was formed to enhance our national research capacity to address the big questions confronting child and youth health, development and wellbeing in Australia.

We do this by bringing together researchers from a broad range of disciplines, in partnership with policy makers, practitioners, data experts and young people, to generate new approaches and improve the transfer of knowledge from research into policy and practice.

Where to in 2010?
Although the formal period of funding for the Research Network scheme ended in 2009, the ARACY ARC/NHMRC Research Network is continuing to operate in 2010 with carry-over funds and external support.  Besides maintaining many of its core programs, it is leading the development of a bid for a Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Prevention Science for Children and Young People, to be based at the University of Melbourne.

The vision of the CRC is to deliver integrated, evidence-based preventive strategies to improve the health and wellbeing of Australia’s children and young people. The bid is building on the work of the Network over the past five years.  Many of Australia’s leading researchers in prevention are participating in the bid, and further key researchers, as well as policy and practice end-users are being sought to contribute to this exciting venture. Please contact Rachael Wilken by email, or phone (03 9345 4164) for more information, or to express your interest in participating.

In the past, the Research Network has convened workshops and seminars and developed programs to build the capacity, skills and knowledge of researchers, policy makers and practitioners and enable them to work together more effectively. Our innovative programs include:

Seed Funding program
New Investigators Network
Sub-networks
